an Antik Batik scarf

I made this scarf last semester but I'm pulling it back out again! The original scarf is NZD$106.50; I spent $15.29 on materials (embroidery thread and fabric) and it took me 9 hours and 45 minutes to make.

I made these little tassels by hand, and they're actually quite easy to do (I used this tutorial from google).

It only took me about 4 hours to make all the tassels, but about 6 hours to sew the scarf! It was the first time I'd actually done a baby rolled hem, so there was lots of fiddling around and unpicking until I got it right (and even then I still cut the scarf crooked, so the scarf isn't a perfect rectangle)

I actually made this scarf with a different fabric the first time around - it was a stretch jersey fabric. I have NO idea why I bought that, it seems like a terrible idea now, but I didn't actually realise how badly suited the fabric was until I'd completely finished the scarf. It was impossible to wrap, hung awkwardly, and the hem was all warped and wavy.

So I went back, chose a lighter fabric and re-did it. It's not the same as the original fabric: that fabric is more of a cotton and this fabric is more slippery. I couldn't find a thin enough cotton fabric though, this was as close as I could get.

This is me wearing the scarf:

And this is the little label I made :)
