a Moschino Cheap and Chic dress

I finally finished the Moschino Cheap and Chic dress. It took such a long time! In the end I decided to only sew the trim on the front, not the back as well. All up I spent 58 hours and 10 minutes on the dress, so I didn't really have time to spend another 50 hours sewing the trim on the back!

The original Moschino dress costs NZ$1622 and I spent $26.94 on materials to copy it.

Moschino by Copycat

Original Moschino
It's obvious from the photos that my copycat version isn't to the same standard as the original is: the colour is different, and the trim on the original seems a lot softer and fluttery... whereas the copycat trim looks rougher and more awkward. On its own it looks good, but next to the original.... not so good.

Copycat petal-trim - see those rough and uneven edges?!

This is the back of the dress, and the inside opening. It's really messy! I always stuff up my mitres, I haven't quite figured out how to do them properly yet.

This is a close up of the stitches on the hearts. The first row I sewed I just did one line of stitching, and after a while they all started coming undone. So I redid them and from then on I sewed straight up the centre of the heart and straight back down again to make them more secure.

The bottoms of the hearts are a bit messy along the hem....

This is the inside of the dress, with all the stitches from the hearts. I'm sure the inside of the original doesn't look like this!

Despite the messiness of the dress, I still really like it though!
