Copycat #6 - Kimberly Ovitz

I really like this skirt! It was really simple to make - it took 7 hours and 50 minutes and cost $15.50. Easy!

Copycat #5 - Maloles

This is my first pair of shoes that I altered. I bought a pair of plain flats for $20 and then covered them in fabric and added the bow. These shoes took 2 hours and 40 minutes and cost $29 in total.


After I made this pair I decided that they would be my only pair of shoes that I made (unless I find something easy to DIY). It can be quite tricky altering shoes, and I'd rather focus on sewing garments.

Copycat #4 - Caroline Sills + Max Azria

I was restricted with colour choices for this piece so I chose a green fabric that was a similar colour to the one in Max Azria's Resort 2011 collection. This is the first Copycat item that I made using a pattern, so it was considerably easier and quicker! It took 16 hours to make (most of that time was spent trying to get the sleeves on properly) and cost $23.40 in total.

Copycat #3 - Inspired Fur Vest

This fur vest was inspired by Derek Lam's Fall 2011 piece and Stolen Girlfriend's Club's Autumn/Winter 2011 piece. I wasn't able to replicated a runway garment completely as I had a limited selection of fur to choose from - but the trend was the same! Fur is big on the runways this Fall.

$34.30 and 33 hours to make.

Copycat #2 - Antik Batik

I ended up making this scarf twice - the first time I used the wrong type of fabric and it wouldn't wrap properly so I bought new fabric and redid it, using the tassels from the first attempt.


It cost me $15.70 and 9 hours and 45 minutes in total to make

Copycat #1 - Moochi W11

This is the first of my Copycat pieces - a simple top made from orange chiffon from Moochi's Winter 2011 collection.


This took me 18 hours to make (I fiddled around with it a lot before I was happy with it) and cost me $19.50 in total.
